The PIC16F15344-I/SS is an 8-bit XLP ultra-low-power MCU launched by Microchip, featuring a 20-pin SSOP package. It operates at a maximum frequency of 32 MHz, with 7 KB of Flash memory, 512 B of RAM and 17-channel 10-bit ADC, and integrates EUSART/I2C/SPI communication interfaces. Supporting a wide voltage range of 2.3 V to 5.5 V, its core applications focus on low-power and analog/digital hybrid control scenarios, detailed as follows:

Core Application Fields

  1. Consumer Electronics & Smart Home
    • Small Appliance Control: Applicable to coffee machines, humidifiers, fans, etc. It collects temperature/humidity data via ADC and achieves precise speed regulation and constant temperature control with PWM. The XLP low-power feature is ideal for battery-powered devices and standby requirements.
    • Smart Sensor Nodes: Compatible with wireless sensors for temperature, humidity, illumination, etc. It connects to sensors via I2C/SPI and uploads data through EUSART, supporting ultra-low-power sleep mode (current as low as nA level) to extend battery life.
    • Remote Controls & Human-Machine Interaction: Drives infrared transmitting/receiving modules, processes key input, and supports multi-protocol encoding, suitable for remote control scenarios of household appliances such as TVs and air conditioners.
  2. Industrial Sensing & Control
    • Process Monitoring Instruments: Collects industrial parameters such as pressure, flow rate and liquid level. The 10-bit ADC ensures data accuracy, and it connects to displays via SPI interface to realize real-time on-site data display and alarm output.
    • Motor & Pump Control: Implements speed and direction control of small DC motors/stepper motors through PWM modules, and monitors current to achieve overload protection, suitable for light-duty industrial equipment in textile and packaging industries.
    • Security & Access Control Terminals: Controls electromagnetic locks and card readers, connects to encryption chips via I2C, supports identity verification and record storage, and is applicable to access management scenarios in factories and residential communities.
  3. Medical & Health Devices
    • Portable Monitoring Instruments: Such as oximeters and heart rate monitors. The low-power design is suitable for battery-powered supply. The ADC collects biological signals and EUSART transmits data to the host, ensuring long-term continuous monitoring.
    • Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Equipment: Controls low-frequency pulse and heating modules, adjusts output power via PWM, and meets the safety control requirements of small household physiotherapy instruments.
    • Medical Consumable Control: Auxiliary control for insulin pumps and infusion pumps, monitors flow rate and pressure to achieve precise drug delivery and abnormal alarm, improving the safety of use.
  4. Automotive Electronics & On-Board Devices
    • On-Board Auxiliary Control: Such as window lifting, seat adjustment and headlight brightness adjustment. It drives relays/motors via GPIO and monitors current to prevent overload, compatible with 12 V on-board power supply.
    • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensors: Collects tire pressure and temperature data. The low-power mode extends the battery life of sensors, and it realizes wireless data transmission by connecting to RF modules via SPI.
    • On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) Accessories: Reads on-board CAN bus data through EUSART, parses parameters such as vehicle speed and fuel consumption, and is suitable for the low-cost design of portable OBD diagnostic tools.
  5. Internet of Things (IoT) & Edge Nodes
    • Smart Home Gateway Expansion: Serves as a sub-node controller to connect devices such as smart locks and curtains, and communicates with the main gateway via RS-485 or wireless modules to achieve linkage control of devices.
    • Energy Monitoring Modules: Collects voltage and current data of solar panels and small inverters, calculates power generation, and uploads data to the cloud via low-power communication, suitable for distributed energy monitoring scenarios.
    • Asset Tracking Tags: Integrates low-power Bluetooth/BLE modules, collects voltage via ADC to achieve positioning and power monitoring, and is applicable to asset tracking needs in logistics and warehousing.

Application Advantages

  • Ultra-Low Power Consumption: XLP technology supports multiple sleep modes, ideal for battery-powered and long-term operation devices, reducing power supply and maintenance costs.
  • High Analog Integration: 17-channel ADC plus multi-channel PWM eliminates the need for additional analog components, simplifies BOM, and is suitable for multi-parameter collection and closed-loop control scenarios.
  • Flexible Communication Capability: Full coverage of EUSART/I2C/SPI interfaces enables seamless connection with sensors, displays and communication modules, shortening the development cycle of IoT terminals.
